The easiest part to damage on the New K1000 camera is the plastic eyepiece. They scratch very easily.  Like most eyepieces, they need to be cleaned regularly.  Replace that plastic eyepiece forever with this quality glass replacement.  (New style K1000's have a twist lock battery cover).
